North American B-25 Mitchell Tattoo WWII Airplane Tattoos In Flight Phillip Spearman SmallArtist Phillip Spearman of Inkworks Tattoo in Artesia, CA completed this detailed North American B-25J Mitchell tattoo recently on a client. The difficult location of the tattoo, on the arm, makes the straight lines of the bomber hard to photograph, so excuse the bent lines… but otherwise the detail is great!

Boeing 747 Seattle Tattoo Airplane Tattoos In Flight Thomas Wade Small

We received a great original tattoo design from a fan last week that we just had post here! The tattoo is a tribute to his favorite aircraft, the Boeing 747-400, and the city that Boeing built — Seattle, WA.  He combined the outline of the 747 with the familiar Seattle landmark, the Space Needle.  If you look closely, you’ll see the Boeing logo in the tribal fill work too!

The tattoo was executed by Thomas Wade of Fenix Tattoo in Seattle, WA.

The wearer works in aviation, so he keeps the tattoo covered at work, but is working on other aviation-related tattoo work — so stay tuned!

Aviator Aviatrix Old School Tattoo Airplane Tattoos In Flight Walter McDonald Small This old school-style tattoo of an aviatrix was expertly completed by Walter McDonald of Lifetime of Sol Tattoo in Denver, Colorado.  It’s fairly common to see classic images of aviators in tattoo work, but fairly rare to see a woman’s head used — a refreshing change!

Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Tattoo WWII Airplane Tattoos In Flight Eric Rignall Small The B-17 Flying Fortress is one of the most popular aviation tattoo themes out there and this B-17 black & gray tattoo by Eric Rignall of Inkstop Tattoo in New York City is more proof of it! Eric says this piece has been added to since the photo was taken, with buildings and a landscape to the background. Either way, it’s a fantastic piece and well executed no matter how you look at it.

262748217_d012aa7268_bAn interesting mix of WWII technology and the workhorse of the Vietnam war is featured today… making us think that the client has a family connection to both perhaps.  This black and gray piece was completed by artist Mez at Total Eclipse Tattoo in Fort Collins, CO.

We are changing our format around this week to make sure our RSS feed doesn’t get stolen by other “spam” feeds out there… so for a larger image, please make the jump at the link!

We’ve got a few B-17 Flying Fortress tattoos to showcase in the coming few days starting with this great ribpiece by Mike Devries of Mike Devries Tattoos in Encino, CA.

The piece is still in progress, awaiting one more run through and background, but it still looks great and the placement is very unique and works well for the massive bomber.
